A Parliamentary petition has been launched following the refusal of West Brom’s request to allow safe standing at the Hawthorns.
The Sports Ground Safety Authority said Tracey Crouch, the sports minister rejected the application. “West Bromwich Albion is subject to the government’s all-seater policy and DCMS (department of digital, culture, media and sport) have said they have no current plans to change their position and introduce standing accommodation at grounds in the top two divisions covered by the all-seater policy”.
In response the petition was set up and, at the time of this post, has almost 58,000 signatures. If it reaches 100,000 it will be considered for debate in Parliament.
