CLARETS TRUST OVERSEAS FOLLOWERS
The Trust has recently had an email message from Cape Town from fans anxiously watching the Clarets as they fight to climb the table to secure another season in the Premier. The Ottery Project has had several supplies of football kit supplied to them by the Clarets Trust with the help of Burnley Football Club.
This project provides residential courses taking young street kids in Cape Town, and keeping them from getting involved in a life of crime. Sport plays a major part in giving these people a real chance in life.
The project does a great job and is a big success – but the future is under threat as Government cutbacks might end their funding. Indeed they are fighting for their future in Court early in February next year – the Trust wishes them well.
Our Chair, Peter Pike, with his two daughters visited the project two years ago. With the kit, at that time, a signed picture and message of good wishes from Charlie Austin was handed over. They are still very proud of that message and picture but as Mo said it was a great pity to see him playing a key part in taking the three points from Burnley for QPR in the recent game.
Mo, the Leader at the Project and all the lads there are anxiously waiting to see Vokes rejoin Ings in the Burnley line up and then for the goals to come to help secure another top flight season for the Clarets.
We have some more gear to get to them and let us hope that 2015 proves to be a year in which they secure their future and the Clarets do likewise.
